Citrix XenApp Power and Capacity Management Technology Preview

Citrix just released the Technology Preview of the XenApp Power and Capacity Management. The XenApp PCM management feature can help administrators reduce power consumption and better manage XenApp server capacity by dynamically scaling up or scaling down the number of online XenApp servers. Consolidating sessions onto fewer online servers improves server utilization, while providing sufficient capacity to handle load while minimizing unnecessary power consumption.

The XenApp Power and capacity management feature can be used with Enterprise and Platinum Editions of the following XenApp versions (32-bit and 64-bit) :

  • Presentation Server 4.5 with Hotfix Rollup Pack 3 (HRP3)
  • Presentation Server 4.5 with Feature Pack 1, with Hotfix Rollup Pack 3 (HRP3)
  • XenApp 5.0 for Windows Server 2003
  • XenApp 5.0 for Windows Server 2008
