I saw a demo of this at Synergy 2009 but haven’t had time to play with it before today. The HDX MediaStream for Flash can be downloaded here. The nice thing with the new Tech Previews coming from Citrix these days are that they are very easy to test in your lab environment. The Pre req’s are XenApp 5.0 and Windows Receiver on a Windows XP/Vista machine.
So before I started the installation I did some preformance tests. The first picture shows performance opening a Norwegian WeatherCast web site and in the second one I am playing a video from the James Bond web site. Of course the James Bond videos are sluggish & the sound crappy.
The installation of the client & server side components are straight forward. On the server side we get a new Service.
So after the installation I did some new performance tests. The first picture shows performance opening a Norwegian WeatherCast web site and in the second one I am playing a video from the James Bond web site. Now the video & audio are very smooth, the CPU stays at 0-1 % and the memory usage are dramatically reduced.
