Citrix Merchandising Server 2.0 (CMS) was released in the end of August and the most important feature is Anonymous Deliveries. Installing Citrix Receiver with a system token enables Receiver to fully configure plug-ins without users needing to authenticate with Merchandising Server. I have now tested this feature with SCCM and it works great, no more double logon prompts.

First of all you’ll need to upgrade CMS to 2.0 and then create a token. I use the following script to do an unattended installation of Citrix Receiver with my custom token value. Just copy and paste your token value into the script.

Ever time I need to set up a new Citrix environment I have a set of Core Applications and helper tools that I always install. These are MSI and EXE based applications leveraging the ScriptFrameWork. I have written numerous blog posts about how to install these different applications unattended.

While working on my upcoming free eBook “Citrix XenApp 5.0 on Windows 2008 – A Hands-On Guide” I got the idea of creating a download including all of these Core Applications with How To instructions. This will save us time since we no longer have to search the blog and web for the different blog posts. The nice thing with the ScriptFrameWork are that they work perfectly on Windows XP/Vista/7 machines as well.

I will in this blog show you how to install all the .NET Frameworks packages with one script and no need for Internet access later. The .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 also includes .NET 2.0 SP2 & .NET 3.0 SP2. This script only installs the English language pack.

• Download the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (Full package).
• Run dotnetfx35.exe /x to extract the files and put it in the Source catalog.

The latest versions of XenApp also come with a Health Monitoring and Recovery (HMR) agent – Citrix recommends leveraging the default health check tests and the additional HMR tests that can be downloaded for free on Citrix‟s website here.

The recommended settings is taken from a presentation held at Synergy 2009 by Citrix.

After the installation remember to run the command : C:Program FilesCitrixSystem32lhctestaclsutil.exe. If you don’t you will get CitrixHealthMon Event 2005 in your logs. More information in the CTX117540 article and in the Citrix Online Product Documentation.

Adobe recently released the Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.1 which fixes critical vulnerability that would cause the application to crash and could potentially allow an attacker to take control of the affected system. Hopefully it also fixes the problems people are experiencing with Roaming of Application Data on Terminal Servers. I have not been able to test this yet in production.

Download Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.1 English / UK and extract the files with this command : C:AdbeRdr910_en_US_Std.exe -nos_ne

All my scripts are based on the ScriptFrameWork developed by Joe Shonk. The script normally uses to folders, Source and Scripts. Copy the extracted files from %UserProfile%Local SettingsApplication DataAdobeReader 9.1Setup Files and paste it into your Source catalog.

Then create an Install.cmd file in the Scripts catalog and paste the script from below. Because of the CSS on my blog be sure to search and replace all the ” ” in Notepad which will cause the script to fail!

Some vulnerabilities have been reported in Adobe Flash Player, which can be exploited by malicious, local users to disclose sensitive information and potentially gain escalated privileges, and by malicious people to bypass certain security restrictions, disclose potentially sensitive information, and compromise a user’s system. Adobe Acrobat Reader 9 has become very big, slow, memory consuming and a lot of users are experiencing problems with Roaming Profiles and AppData in the Terminal Server Environment. So I decided to make a script for installing the Foxit Reader.

First of all you have to download Foxit Reader 3.0 and save it to your Source catalog. I have also made a custom Foxit Reader package that you’ll find in the Core Application. This takes away Automatic Update and removes Advertisement and a Registry file that makes it your default PDF Viewer. The registry file also contains a HKCU settings which could be implemented with Group Policy Settings Reference.

Going through the StatPress logs I discovered that a lot you are having problems with Acrobat Reader 9 on Terminal Server and are really fed up with Adobe Support. So I decided to make a script for installing the free CutePDF Writer and FoxIt Reader.

First of all you have to download GPL Ghostscript 8.15 and extract it with WinZip to your Source catalog and then CutePDF Writer 2.71

The new version of Adobe Reader is out and it’s supposed to be faster and better. Though the integrated Shockwave & FlashPlayer will be interesting in a Terminal Server Environment.
